Suite Antique EP

‘A collection of 5 tracks which showcase a unique contemporary jazz sound, fusing splashes of classical piano and dappled electronics with their jazz exploits, Suite Antique is a rich sonic experience with astounding musicianship and innovative composition on display’ - SHYCAT MEDIA

This debut release has gained major support from Jazz FM (Dinner Jazz track of the week, and playlist) as well as support from the likes of Backseat Mafia, EARMILK and BBC Introducing.

Virtuosic piano playing which goes straight to the heart and head, otherworldly cosmic retro synths underpinned with gravitational drums and bass grooves which roots the tracks firmly back on planet earth. The trio inhabit that space of what could be called pure music. Travelling to musical frontiers - so new and fresh yet still with a sense of 'couldn't be anything else' - a trio of musical space explorers with raw primal energy- Gerry Diver

About

Richard Meehan is a composer and pianist working in a broad spectrum of styles and genres.

Collaborating with drummer Paul Glover, bassist James Newman and electronics wiz Jon Bierman, his latest project is Rich Meehan Trio

After 2 years of writing and rehearsals the plans are set for the release of the debut EP ‘Suite Antique’ and 3 supporting singles in the Spring Summer of 2022.

The five-movement work fuses a classical sensibility with a modern jazz style and notes of contemporary electronica. Movements such as the Carillon and Toccata showcase what the piano can do as an instrument, while movements such as the Prelude and Gymnopedie are all about atmosphere. The end result is at once familiar and strange, progressive, yet approachable and is some of the composer’s most personal work.
